Bamboo, a fast-growing and versatile resource, is being promoted for economic development, poverty eradication, and environmental benefits. Traditionally known as the “poor man’s tree,” bamboo has evolved into a high-tech industrial raw material and wood substitute. Using technology-enhanced learning and open educational resources, COL-CEMCA developed training modules that focus on harvesting, post-harvesting procedures like treatment, storage, and processing, as well as applications of bamboo to create a variety of products with the goal of improving quality and introducing new high-value products for high end markets to maximise its potential.
