Developing a Framework of Teacher Competencies for Inclusive Education

To strengthen regional networks and advance inclusive education in South Asian Commonwealth countries, representatives from India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Maldives, and Malaysia came together to co-develop a comprehensive teacher competency framework for inclusive education. A workshop was held focusing on children with specific learning disabilities (SLD), visual impairments, and other physical disabilities.  The workshop aimed to improve accessibility, develop a roadmap for mainstreaming students with disabilities, and promote cooperation among Commonwealth nations. A draft of the regional teacher competency framework outlined the shared understanding of teacher competency requirements, and a collaborative project roadmap. The initiative leverages technology and partnerships to ensure inclusive education, striving to leave “no student behind.
